Attorney Marjorie A. Sheldon

Ms. Sheldon joined Bay Area Criminal Lawyers in August 2017. She is a 2016 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, magna cum laude, where she focused primarily on criminal defense.

Ms. Sheldon has earned awards for her legal writing and public service advocacy during law school. Ms. Sheldon also volunteered with the Northern California Innocence Project (NCIP) where she assisted with a wrongful conviction matter. She completed NCIP’s clinical course, offered through Santa Clara Law, providing her with experience consulting with lawyers, DNA experts, investigators and prosecutors.

As part of a Criminal Law and Policy class, Ms. Sheldon provided research and documents to aid the Santa Clara County Working Group on Bail and Pretrial Release in reaching a determination on how best to reform money bail in the state. Those findings were also shared with the American Civil Liberties Union, which takes a keen interest in bail-related issues.

Ms. Sheldon’s dedication to the practice of criminal defense was further displayed throughout her internship at the Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender in working with a felony attorney, as well as appearing on behalf of misdemeanor clients. In that capacity, she worked closely with clients in and out of court, and prepared many of the trial documents and exhibits for several cases.

Ms. Sheldon is passionate about criminal defense. She feels that the right to an attorney is one of the hallmarks of our Constitution. In addition, she loves working with clients. Her diverse background gives her the ability to empathize and connect with people from all walks of life. She is excited to be a part of the team at Bay Area Criminal Lawyers and to put her experience and education to work on behalf of its clients.
